Pilot Classes Are a Hit at Franklin Regional School District!
About the Partnership
Carmen Loughner, Elementary Technology Teacher, and Kelsey met through PD with offered by the ABC CREATE network - a network of 14 school districts in the Allle-Kiski Valley region of Pennsylvania. These 2 pilot classes, offered at no cost, were carried out with Kim Ord’s 4th grade classes. Students signed on from school and home, and learned to code and control robots together!
This week on 4/19, Carmen, Kim, and Tina Gillen (Director of Innovation & Communication and Newlonsburg Principal) from Franklin Regional and Kelsey and Matt from CodeJoy presented their work at the Franklin Regional School Board Meeting, along with 2 students who participated in the class. The school board was so welcoming and supportive of teachers’ and students’ work!
Here are the slides, created by Carmen, we presented with an overview of the work.
